I began by developing a core concept that centered around playful and vibrant illustrations, drawing inspiration from classic shanty themes and the lively spirit of the festival. By using a bold colour palette, the designs evoke the energy of sea shanties while making it also feel current and engaging.
Through this comprehensive approach, I modernised the festival's visual identity while staying true to its maritime roots. The playful illustration style not only refreshed the festival's look but also helped to attract a broader, younger audience, ensuring the festival remains a relevant and cherished event.

To begin, I delved into extensive research on traditional nautical styles, exploring historical sea shanty illustrations, maritime symbols, and the visual aesthetics associated with life on the sea. This research helped me identify the iconic motifs that have long been associated with maritime culture.
